Being a Farmers Agent is not the right move for everyone, even if they do qualify. We have designed a process in order to determine your suitability as a Farmers agent and whether this is the right career move for you.
I Preliminary Interview
The purpose of this informational interview is to give you a "forest view" of this career: the advantages and disadvantages of a career in the insurance industry and with Farmers Insurance. We'll have you fill out a Candidate Questionnaire. You can fill this form out here, or you can fill it out in our office. An initial determination is made of whether you are in a position to proceed with the remaider of the selection process. After the Preliminary Interview, you are given a booklet of information to review. If you are interested in continuing with the selection process, contact us to schedule the next interview.
II General Overview/ Q&A
After reading the packet, please bring in follow-up questions about the contents and specifics of the agent opportunity. We will spend the first half of this meeting reviewing your questions and providing specific details regarding the financial assistance program, licensing, and the Reserve Agent Program.
III Meet with an Agent
We will match you up with a veteran agent. This will be your opportunity to get it "straight from the horses mouth," and have a frank, private conversation from someone who has successfully completed this program and is flourishing in this career.
IV Application
If you successfully make it though the meeting with an agent, you will be invited to apply. This is a computer-based application.
V Final Interview
After your application has been approved by Farmers, you will be invited back into the office for a final interview. This gives us a chance to sit down together, review what you have learned about what it takes to be a Farmers agent, and gives you a chance to make your case for why we should move forward with your training. Your spouse/ partner is also invited to be present at this final interview. They will be more important to your success than anyone. If your spouse/ partner is not "on board" with the idea of you becoming an agent, you will fail. During this final meeting, we will also discuss your proposed timeline for securing your licenses and beginning your training. Following this final interview, we will make a determination of whether to accept you into the Agent Training Program.
VI Licensing
If we selcet you for the Agent Training Program, we will invite you into the office to schedule your pre- licensing training and licensing exams. At that time, we will sit down together and review the available schedules for licensing classes and test dates, as well as design your customized training timeline. Because our training is conducted one-on-one, "apprenticeship style," we need to be able to accurately and specifically match up your schedule with ours. At this time, you will also begin some very basic training through the "University of Farmers Online" (UFO). Click here for more information on licensing.
VII Reserve Agent Training Program
Once you have secured your licenses, we will begin trainingimmediately, as per the schedule that we drew up in Step 5. During this training program, you will be involved in online training, as well as hands-on fieldwork with the District Manager and Sales Manager. The Agent Training Program will give but us and you the opportunity to see whther you are able to perform the necessary work on a day-to-day basis. In shourt, we see whether or not you have "the right stuff" to be a long-term agent with Farmers. During the Reserve Agent Program, you are paid FULL COMMISSION on all sales, just as any other agent is paid. Farmers does not reduce commissions uring the training program.
VIII Career Agent Program
